Surgent McCoy, LLC, the leader in the field of continuing professional education for CPAs, has announced that John N. Sherrick, partner in Sitrick & Associates, LLC has been named as the recipient of the 2011-2012 James L. McCoy Discussion Leader of the Year award. Sherrick, an instructor with Surgent McCoy for over 18 years, is only the 4th recipient of this award for excellence in tax continuing professional education. The award is given to the instructor who has the highest rating for knowledge and presentation skills. Sherrick taught over 70 days presenting 31 different course titles in 2011 on topics involving individual, business, and estate taxation as well as financial and tax planning to over 2,000 CPA participants. Sherrick has presented courses for CPAs in all 50 of the United States.
Sherrick holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Knox College and a master's degree in accounting from the University of Iowa. Beginning his public practice in 1971, John has been a partner in the firm since 1975. John is licensed to practice in both Iowa and Illinois and is a member of both the Iowa and Illinois Societies of Certified Public Accountants. John is active in a number of civic and professional organizations.
Originally founded by Sheldon Sitrick in 1954, Sitrick & Associates was the first CPA firm established in Bettendorf, IA. Today the two partners, John N. Sherrick and Jim K. Blake and their staff provide accounting and advisory services to commercial clients and individuals both locally and nationally.
Surgent McCoy CPE, LLC is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of CPE on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors and with NASBA’s Quality Assurance Service (QAS). Each one of their courses is accepted for CPE credit in all 50 states.
